Amanda Todd, Privacy Rights?
I have a Current Events discussion I need to lead tomorrow during class and this Amanda Todd story has really caught my attention. My topic is Privacy Rights and I wanted to know some of your guys opinions on if her story has anything to do with Privacy Rights? I feel as if it does, but I don't want to end up using her story and not involving privacy or privacy rights in it. Please help!
I understand it is a really touchy subject too. Ads |

Her family probably doesn't like everyone knowing that their daughter committed suicide.
Privacy rights of Amanda, when people posted those pictures of her Privacy rights of her story, and whether the family chooses to share it or not. Just some suggestions Ads |

I saw some of my friends post two things on facebook. One was a DISCLAIMER or something like that saying just because they are posting on the web they aren't giving up their ownership rights to posts, pics, and everything else they did. I was told you HAD to use the disclaimer (or whatever it was) otherwise whatever was that you put out on the web, it was up for anyone to grab without repercussion.
The other was having to do with americancensorship.org and some sort of piracy act I don't know much about that but I still think it is related. One would think what happened between 2 people wouldn't end up being broadcast like that now to millions of people. Amanda was right, she couldn't get it back. -------- edit: OK here is what they posted, they were trying to copyright "UCC 1-103 1-308 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED WITHOUT PREJUDICE PRIVACY NOTICE: Warning - any person and/or institution and/or Agent and/or Agency of any governmental structure including but not limited to the United States Federal Government also using or monitoring/using this website or any of its associated websites, you do NOT have my permission to utilize any of my profile information nor any of the content contained herein including, but not limited to my photos, and/or the comments made about my photos or any other "picture" art posted on my profile." FACEBOOK RESPONSE "There are a number of inaccuracies here. Facebook became a publicly traded company last month, but that change has no bearing on how the social network treats user information. Facebook is still bound to the terms and conditions signed by users, even if the actual contents of the contract are usually left unread. The company is also required to provide notification regarding any significant changes to this agreement." Don't Bother Posting the "Facebook Privacy Notice" That's Spreading Around http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/...nked_.html |
