how to hide posts to friends on facebook?

Hi,

I just sent my sister a message on facebook, and it came up on the main page so everyone I know can see it, is there anyway of hiding the messages I send to friends etc. I looked in the privacy settings etc, and couldn't see an option to change. Can anyone help me please?

It sounds like you posted on your sister's wall instead of sending a message. If you clicked on her profile where it said "write something" that was just a wall post, and any mutual friends or anyone who goes to her wall can see it. Underneath her profile picture, is should say "send [sister] a message." A window should pop up that says new message.
