It really depends on where the contest is and what the rules are....

Post a link to it on your facebook, myspace, online messagers, wherever you are networking. Then, you have to bug the holy crap out of everyone to vote as many times as is allowed (check out the rules to see if it is just one vote per person or per day.) Also, go to your family/friends/work/library/wherever and vote on different computers if possible. If it has to be different accounts then you will just have to find as many people as you can and keep bugging them to go vote.

I am going to tell you something. If a photo "competition" is determined by "likes", then it is WORTHLESS to you or anyone else. There are always going to be people who have ways of manipulating the system or have a pile of goofs that will "like" their photo, no matter how big a piece of crap it is.

Any serious photo competition is judged by REAL, knowledgeable, skilled judges. "Likes" from the general pubic never have ANYTHING to do with it, and in fact, most serious competitions do not even have such silly nonsense as a "like" button and count.

So don't waste your time worrying about it. Get into some REAL competitions if you think your work is good enough. A pile of friends liking your submission is the blind leading the blind, and worth absolutely nothing.

First thing first.. if a contest winner is determined by likes from online account holders, its not a contest of creativity/ merit.. It is only to popularize their own site and promote the same among others at the expense of your photo and your recommendations.

But, if there are real good prizes involved, its worth a try! Since these sites are trying to cash on your recommendations; I don't feel there is any wrong in making USE of the benefits!

How to get online votes:
1. check how many times a person can vote.. if its one per day, visit everyday to cast your vote

2. create multiple accounts (these are free anyways) and cast hundreds of votes each day.

3. Once you vote, click the back button and try to vote again. In many sites, it does work. Keep voting till you get considerable votes.

4. Beg your friends, relatives, classmates and colleagues to vote for you. Keep sending them the link to the page each day.

5. Promote the link of your photo in Flickr Groups, Facebook groups, Facebook wall, Orkut groups, Orkut wall, twitter, yahoo group mails and wherever it reaches the masses. Make it look attractive so that people click the link and vote for you.

6. Find out people in facebook/twitter/orkut, who are looking for similar help. Tell them to vote for you and in return vote for them too.
