How to find the title holder to my truck?

We bought this truck off of a buy here pay here car lot. The car lot then closed and we were making payments directly to owners. They then moved without our last payment or giving us the original title.
We were able to registration for it for a couple of years and then the DMV said last time they couldn't renew it this year because the companies business something expired. I've tried the post office for a forwarding address, the DVM has not been helpful, and facebook. Now we are stuck with a truck we can't drive or get rid of because we don't have the original title. Any ideas?
