Tell them there are privacy settings on there. If they let you use yahoo, they'll let you use facebook.

Don't get one. It's a big waste of time. If you still want one tell them that you can mae everything private in the settings.

You can explain to them that you are only gonna use Facebook to speak with your friends. Tell them that you are going to put fake information on your account such as a unreal birthday. tell them that you are just going to put your nickname and not your real name for your account. Finally tell them that you wont put any pictures of yourself on Facebook. later on after you have a little more of their trust you can tell them that you want to put pictures on Facebook so your friends can remember the fun times you have had with them. or something like that.

Tell them about the privacy settings plus, tell them that they should open a facebook account and friend you so they can keep track of what your doing online. Or, you can even tell them they can have the facebook account password so they can randomly check it for their own peace of mind.

There are privacy settings that can be put in place so only friends and family members can view your Facebook page. Also, you can block other people if they harass you.

I know teachers and school administrators who have a Facebook account, so that may convince them to let you have one, too. Explain to them that they can monitor your account if they still do not trust you.

FYI, most cases where people are "tracked down" is because they are naive and do not believe that someone would do bad things to them. Tell them that you are not as psychotically stupid as they are and know better than to meet up with some creeper after hours. Lastly, people are going to insult other people on the internet regardless of which website they talk on.

Privacy on facebook is so much better than other social networks! I basically don't exist there cuz my settings don't allow me to be searched by email or name. Only friends can see certain stuff and other stuff is just for my viewing.

when is first gt my facebook i just turnt 12. I didnt ask my parents i jt got one just like myspace i just one. Now am still 12 years with my own personal space. I am not tellin you to do it with out your parents permission i am just saying to tell your parents some point they can do. - One they can get your password and email and check over you. -Two they let you get one and they put their name on the acount and you just tell your friends your mom is just test me to see if i can do good with a facebook.- Three they dont have to put your real picture up there you can just put a picture of your dog/cat or want ever. - Four they dont have to put personal stuff up on it they can just but fantsy stuff on it. *Be aware to set your profile as private/wall. To people that are not your friends on facebook. I havent had mine for a liong time but i do understand some stuff about it. Now my parents no that i have a facebook and myspace and they check up on me a couple a times a mouth, just to make sure that i am not give out my info and not doing anything i am not supposed to be doing. But your parents do have a point there are some creeky people out there and they do stupid stuff to hurt people. Which i dont understan at all when they can hurt them selves. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION AND MAKE SURE YOU DONT DISOBEYED YOUR PARENTS. PLEASE MAKE YOU MAKE A GOOD DESESSION.

I definitely agree with the person whose spies on her daughter on facebook. (not being mean or sarcastic or anything, but I'm on my itouch...small screen + idk how to write ur username)

I've had mine for about a month and I made it w/o telling my parents. So it was a big deal, blah blah blah, and I got the speech about how it isn't safe. I think it's pretty safe actually, just make sure all of info including ur wall and photos are private, for the people u accepted for friends only. And make sure u kno evry "friend" personally!!!

Just show ur parents the privacy options facebook has. Use a friend's account to show them cuz u have to be logged in to see the options and profiles. Also, u can delete/deactivate at any time. Have them make an account first, maybe. Or u can tell them tht they can hve access 2 ur account, give them the username/password. It's a really good way to communicate w/ friends, especially, if u don't c them very often. Smile or tell them it's a good way to have study, u cam hve group chats about homework. Idk, my parents like to suck tht stuff up, even tho I hve straight As. So just talk to them. Smile

Hope I helped. Smile makes me feel good tht I was of help! Smile
