Volunteer opportunities in the United States?
A friend and I live in Michigan, and we do a lot of volunteer work around our separate hometowns. However, before we go off to college, we wanted to do a little bit of traveling and volunteering somewhere different, somewhere new. We couldn't go abroad, so we've been trying to find places that help place volunteers around the U.S. If you know of any, it would be awesome if you could tell us and give us links! Thanks a lot!

Habitat for Humanity. But you pay your own transportation and living expenses plus you must have a needed skill.

One place you might look for volunteer opportunities is through DOVIA. That stands for Directors of Volunteers in Agencies. They have chapters and meetings in communities across the United States. Their participating members all are agencies or organizations that work with volunteers. There are so many places to volunteer. Try The Salvation Army, local food banks. I would check with the Chamber of Commerce in your community. They should be able to give you leads as well. Thank you for wanting to volunteer. It is a great help and a great learning experience as well.
