Why don't my replies show up to me on twitter?

I just made one and am getting used to it, I reply to stuff and it doesn't show up on the original tweet only in "my tweets" am I doing something wrong, have I not fully set it up? Or is this just how it is and they see it even though I don't? Thanks.

You're doing fine. It will give them a notification, like a private message over facebook would, or an email.

They will see it, but it won't be on their personal wall (which is only for content they themselves have posted or re-tweeted)
