How old is old enough to have a Facebook?
In my opinion, Facebook is appropriate for any age users, but my friends think differently. They say that Facebook should only be used by people in high school, college and adults. I'm not sure what to do, because I am trying to decide whether to make a Facebook or not.

Well technically yeah.
I'm still in middle school but I'm a ninth grader.
But there are tons of ninth graders with accounts, and since ninth grade is considered high school everywhere else...thats fine.
You don't really need one til high schol, but if you want one I say ninth grade or older. Younger than that...and it's stupid to have one. And you aren't technically the right age then. (legally)

It depends on what you will be doing and whether the people who would be your friends have one or not. As long as you dont accept creeper friend requests, then it isnt exactly inappropriate, but it can be a big time suck. But it can be kind of embarrassing if you have no friends and stuff.

I'd say around 7th or 8th grade.

Facebook is designed for people in High School or older. In fact, if you try to join Facebook with a birth date that would make you younger than 13 (e.g. younger than 1994), your account will be disabled.

Obviously, there is a reason for this. My guess would be that the main reason is internet predators. It is so easy to find out so much personal information about anyone just with a few clicks of the mouse, especially if you are a computer specialist. Young teens will often put information or photos on their profiles that would make them identifiable without thinking. It's as simple as posting a photo of you and your school soccer team with the name of your school on your jersey. Nobody thinks they're going to be that kid that ends up with a stalker.

Personally, I think that if you're going to have Facebook before high school then you should at least make your profile private. In other words, inaccesable to people who are not your 'Friends', and will not show up when your name is searched.

In fact, I think that even kids in high school should set some boundaries when it comes to privacy. For example, I'm in ninth grade, but I still set my profile so that people who I don't know can't access my information. If you search me, my name will come up, but you won't be able to see my friends, a picture or visit my profile.

Whether or not you make a Facebook account is up to you, but honestly, once you get to high school (I'm not sure if you are already), everyone will have Facebook. You'll pretty much need it just to talk to friends.

you are never too old! though there are a lot of age group specefic networks these days so if you are very concerned you can choose accordingly. as far as I know highfive is for highschool, facebook is for 20-30 somethings and boomeryearbook is for boomers...however you can joine em all if you want...age after all is just a number!
