how do i turn off facebook notifications on my blackberry torch?

I keep getting them, but I only have the minimum data plan. Does getting that little orange box that symbolizes i unred facebook notification mean it is using up my data? How can I turn it off?
I am not being notified vis SMS, there is an app called Social Feeds that it goes through

You have to turn your notifications off via facebook (just like e-mail notifications) not on your blackberry.

1.click account
2.click account settings.
3.click the notifications tab at the top
4.uncheck the cellphone boxes (it will have a picture of a cellphone, and i will say SMS at the top) for whatever you don't want to get notifications for.
5.optional-if you still want to get the email notifications don't uncheck the email notificatons box but if you don't then you can uncheck it. remember for some things if you don't get notifications for, you may NEVER know/find out about.
