First step...go to My Activities>Edit My Preferences>Privacy & Communications. Under "Sharing and network:" you will see "Share my Q&A with:". Select "My Contacts Only" and click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Then for more privacy you need to check your Pulse settings.

From Answers go to My Activity>View Pulse>Settings>Manage updates. Make sure "Share my updates" is not checked. Save at the bottom of the page.

You can also manage whether you want Twitter or Facebook linked to your Yahoo! account by going to Settings>Manage my linked accounts.

You can make your Q&A list on your profile page private, and choose who can see that list. Go to your profile page, click on Edit My Preferences, and then on the Privacy option.

You can not, however, make your questions and answers on this site private in general. Even if you make your list private, all your questions and answers will still be viewable in their categories. This is not a private site, it is a very public one. All resolved questions go into the archives -- forever -- where they can be viewed by anyone who wants to look them up. This was explained very clearly in the material you had to read (or lie and say you'd read) when you signed up to use this site.
