How do I help my teen daughter understand why porn is bad?
She has some friends who have started anime porn links on their facebook. She argued with me that she should be allowed it, too. She doesn't understand things like reputation, etc, because she's always like, "I don't care what they think." How can I help her understand what harm it causes? ESPECIALLY at such a young age?

Except, it isn't. Porn does not cause anything.

I've been watching porn since I was a kid.
First out of curiosity.. now, for other reasons...

I'm not some sex crazed lunatic on drugs or whatever you think happens

How old is she anyway? 14,15,16?
This is normal at this age..
and you being sexually oppressive really does no one any good.

Watching porn is normal for a teenager, but it should be kept private. Just let her know that kind of stuff is not to be shown to the public. If she refuses to comply with your orders, then take her computer or phone, or both away until she can act maturely on the net.

excessive porn-watching
a NEED for porn to be simulated

allowing anything porn-ish to be exploited on fb- boy oh boy can facebook bite you in the arse!

Einstein once said* "If you can't explain something to a child, you don't really understand it yourself."

*Maybe. People say he said it at least.

Anyway, my point is, if you can't explain it, maybe you don't know the reason yourself. Or maybe... there isn't a reason and unlike your daughter you just accepted it unquestioningly when people told you.

You might not approve of porn, but it's one of the more benign things your daughter is being exposed to. Movies and TV programs depicting violence are much more harmful. I restricted my daughters access to violent entertainment. You know, all those "John Wayne" and "Dirty Harry," types glorifying shooting, killing and beating the hell outta some one. I never objected to entertainment with love making and/or nudity. My kids never got pregnant, had drug problems, or had problems with the law. They all had 4.0 GPAs and were popular socially. They all grew into responsible, contributing, members of society. Do you actually know of any harm that porn causes? Outside of extreme agitation from helicopter mothers??

While I agree porn should not be the forefront of what a teenager watches, what harm is it really doing?

The biggest issue is her age vs legality of her viewing porn at her age. Technically it could cause legal problems for you as the parent if someone decides they want to press the issue, like another parent upset about what their child accessed from her profile or whatever. That is what I would focus on.

I would also explain that porn generally gives a very unrealistic view of what sex is in real life.

But as far as reputation, everyone watches porn, or has watched porn at some point. Or reads porn if you count the often graphic romance novels. She could get called a whore, but if she doesnt care what "they" think of her, that probably is not going to matter to her.

But, be aware, whether you allow porn or not, she will still have access to it because you simply cannot monitor the entire internet, or her use of the internet outside of your home. Also be aware that statistics show that those who know masturbation and other forms of self stimulation are available, are more likely to have their first sexual encounter with another person at a later age.

This is what's exactly wrong with America. When you have Americans claiming nothing is wrong with porn, you know our nation is in trouble.

Let me explain it to all the perverts out there.

1. Sex outside of marriage is wrong.
2. Sex with the same sex is wrong.
3. Lusting is wrong.
4. Pornography is pervertedness.
5. Homosexuality is pervertedness.
6. Pornography and homosexuality often lead to marital problems and divorce. Many ending because of the result of adulterous affairs.

All these things move men from God, virtue, rightoeusness and it changes the way men thing from things that are faithful and true to things that hamper the well being of society. It has been proven in study after study that these things do great damage to our society as it attacks the three basic principals our Founding Fathers believed were necessary to sustain a healthy and vibrant society, natioin. All the above are direct attacks on God, family and country. They are a disease in our society , so if you want to know what is wrong with America, understand that men have forsake God, family, country for the love of sinful desires which work to destroy not only personal relationships, destroy lives, but also work to destroy our nation which once believed virtue was one of the most redeeming traits of a healthy society.

So you need to explain to your daughter that pornograpy is a sickness or pervertness that brings demon oppression into our lives. It can even result in demon possession if allowed to continue for too long. Teach her what it says in God's Word about refraining from premarital sex. I would suggest you find a good preacher to take with her. Also you can go to this site and let her read these articles at this link.
