My former California employer withheld child support payments, but did not send them to Texas Attorney General?
My former California employer withheld child support payments, but did not send them to Texas Attorney General. My current Texas employer is deducting the money from my paycecks to repay the arrears. I have received a letter stating my IRS return will be intercepted to offset arrearages. What legal recourse do I have in getting the money back from the former employer? I have already contacted the CA bookkeeper to assist me, but she says she sent all payments.

Contact the Texas Attorney General's office. You can get a list of the phone and fax number at :

Are you sure they didn't? Have you spoken to them and asked to see any canceled checks? Texas has a reputation for posting payments to the wrong case number, so you better make sure you are right about this before accusing them.

Show copies of your paystubs to a child support officer. They can track them down. There's a system to look them up by employer.
