You need to have a legal document issued that child support is over. It isn't automatic. If you're lucky, and if you have the paperwork, the decision can be made retroactive and the person collecting the benefits can be made to repay it to you. But they will take money out until they receive a court paper acknowledging that it is no longer in force.

If you don't/can't get a lawyer for this, you will need to make an appointment with Child Support Enforcement and bring all relevant paperwork to that meeting, and come to an agreement with them. If the amount is substantial, a lawyer would be a better plan.

The court has to declare you done and notify CS. Call your lawyer.

Also they will continue to take money out as long as you owe back support. If you speak to your child support office and they confirm that the order is ended then inform them that they are still taking it out of your unemployement and please end the order to withhold

Because you did not make an official request, or you still owe arrears interest penalties.

For 22 years, I have volunteered my time working with divorced/single fathers dealing in family law issues, such as child support, teaching them about what the states are not telling support obligors.
