What does 3g connectivity in the iPod touch 5g mean?

I heard a rumor that the new ipod touch might be 3g, what does this mean? I know that some phones are 3g, and so's the iPad, but how would it work with an ipod touch if you dont/cant pay for the service fee? Im new at this so please explain!

Remember theese are all rumors and theres a low chance of a new itouch comeing out this year anyway. If 3G was to come to iPod Touch all it would be is viewing internet, downloading apps, using facebook and twitter and so on. But it would be similar to a mobile phone network where some company like AT&T or Verizon in your case and they will have a plan where you pay for limited intenet use or Pay as you go style

Oh and the new iCloud system which ylu can read more about on the Apple website so that would work well with 3G

Just hang on and see what happens in the upcoming months.
