Can the other person tell when you close a chat on facebook?

Like if you have a chat conversation up with someone then you close it, can they tell? or is it still up for them?

I'm pretty sure it stays open for them until they either close it themselves or log off.

Its still up for them.
The only way they can tell u left of something
is if u go offline.
But even if u go offline
the chat will still be up for them
except for the fact that it will say
that u went offline.
