under settings
notificaions- by time? or the option manually?
what does this mean?

It means that they will show it in chronological order (When you got them) eg...

Twitter - 19:27 (Appear First)
Text Message - 19:04 (Appear Second)
Facebook - 18:54 (Appear Last)
