Do you think social networks, i.e., Facebook, have deteriorated into nothing more than egofests?

I deleted my Facebook account when some of my friends and relatives who are working professionals posted status messages bragging about themselves and their possessions to see how many people would press the "Like" button. It was like a high-school popularity contest, and I didn't want any part of it.

i deleted my Myspace and Facebook for the exact same reasons. Half those pages are people living a fantasy life online trying to impress their "friends."

I know people who post fake blogs, etc just to make their life sound interesting.

Those social networking sights are just a big "hook up" portal for people to have random and casua lsex. If yo usee people with lots of the opposite sex, they're horrible t odate because the ycan just easily "move on" to their next "fan."

Did you know those social networks are a tool for government agencies to collect information about anybody & everybody? They profile people, 1 slip up and say good bye to your freedom.
