is the account verification thing going around facebook a scam?
it says, Facebook, because of the strong slowdown of the servers in this month, is closing many accounts.
I've heard it was and wasn't anyone know the real deal?

Yes, its a scam. First of all it was not developed by facebook and secondly, facebook would not ask to verify with a app.
