If you really like to use it to keep in touch with friends, keep it.
But never, ever post personal details for the world to see! Everything you ever post online, including Facebook, and including restricted stuff, is permanently out there, and you'll have no control over it at all.
Did you know that every photo you put on FB becomes their property, so they could give it to newspapers and stuff?

My daughter is a professional actor, and used FB to stay in contact with acting professionals she's met, actors she's worked with, students she studied with, current friends and old friends. But she keeps it as private as possible, and very little information goes on it.
Imagine that everything you add to FB became public and got printed - would you be okay with that?
That's the way to think of it.
Your choice!

You can delete yours and get a new one and put just enough information about yourself so that other actors or professionals you meet can find you.

If you would be happy with what you are putting on Facebook being published in the newspaper at any time in the future, for anyone to see, then put it there. You have no control over who sees it and who shares it. Every word you write is on record permanently and can be tracked using technology cleverly. Employers are now searching Facebook to get an alternative view of potential employees.

I would suggest that you use Facebook with care and as a tool for your career networking, bearing in mind the above. It is hard to totally disregard it as a social networking device. Aspiring acctors need to be constantly in touch with what other actors are doing, auditioning for etc. etc.

Keep it. People are suspicious of you if they can't find you. BUT lock it down HARD. Control what every single person sees and control it with an iron fist. Make sure that the general public can see the things you want a casting agent/potential employer to see and nothing more. Link your resume (without home address and phone number). But your drunken escapades and your crazy relatives - no one should see that but the people who were there when it happened.
