What does it mean to put someone as a partner on Facebook?

I have a best friend that I am really close with
and she is a female and are relationship is strictly platonic
and I wanted to put on Facebook that she is my partner (female)
but I don't know if that would state that we are dating.. Or that
she is my constant companion.. Someone please solve my mystery plz!!!

Putting "partner" as your relationship status would give people the idea that you're doing way more than dating.

It means you're in a "domestic partnership" and is basically just another way of saying you're married.

Partner is generally like a boyfriend/girlfriend, or someone you are having a romantic relationship with.
