My parents are like that too! It's so annoying!
But I think parents do this because they're scared about you getting kidnapped, or talking to strangers, or just whatever. They want to keep you safe!
And there are a lot of creepy people out there so I think they want you to be careful!
I guess they're worried about you and care about you!
But they'll get used to it and when you get older, they know you'll have more responsibility so they won't care that much when you get older. So don't worry!
But good luck!

My son feels the same way as you. Unfortunately there are Monsters out there in the Real World who prey on Young children. They are not nice. Your parents are being careful as they Should be. I do not want YOU to be a statistic of a child molester. God Bless you and keep you from harm.

Not letting you have a profile picture of yourself is a bit much but I actually agree with your parents for the most part. There is no need for any of that, Facebook is just a way for you to stay connected with friends and family. If you want to start "families" with your friends there are games and other online communities meant for that. I know this isn't the answer you want to hear but remember, having a profile is a privilege, not a necessity.

first off your parents do not get mad for no reason. They don't want you to have a picture of yourself on face book, then you go and have a picture put up. The reason they are mad is because you are not following there rules.

Hey I bet you feel so grown up - and you almost are! Your parents are showing rightful parental concern, they are worried that you will get somebody "talking " to you that is not who they say they are. You see and hear about this so so often sometimes with tragic consequences.

Under the law you are still a child, there are legal restrictions.. I know you feel a lot of your mates are online and want to chat with them thats understandable. If I were you, without getting into a shouting match with your parents ask them about Facebook and what they are frightened of. Then talk to them asking about their rules about being on the computer and say you want to just contact your mates. I hope you do manage to get to a compromise with your Mum and Dad.

Your parents are right to worry 'cause once you put a picture online, you lose control of it.
