What does it mean if someone makes up an entire person?
My sister's friend may or may not have created an "imaginary friend' if you will. This girl she created had over 400 friends on Facebook, and hundreds of facebook pictures, all of which where taken from another girl. My sister's friend claimed to have been friends with this imaginary girl since kindergarden, said they went on vacations together, ect.

What does this mean psychologically? I'm worried for my sister.

Thanks in advance.

It may mean she feels a bit insecure, and lonely.
But if they are taking pictures from someone else, then that it copyright, and you can be fined i think.

Go to see a Psychologist about this, they can help......x

It means that she is a teenage girl trying to look like she is cool and can't do it on her own, so she made up a friend, that seems cool and popular and what ever else and is using this to help her own social status and to play out a fantasy life on facebook where she is able to be her ideal person. Unless this friend really believes this or spends more time on this facebook profile than attending to her own life and interests, it doesn't mean much more.

I could mean your sister has multiple personality disorder or boarder line personality disorder. She needs to go to a psychologist or psychiatrist to get evaluated as soon as possible. Some people create different personalities to cover up painful memories in their past. I hope you can get her some help before it is too late.

cooltine..... doesn't even come close to either multiple personality disorder or borderline personality disorder (my mum suffers from MPD & me from BPD).

It could be a form of delusion if she is unaware of the fact that this imaginary girl is real or it could simply be trying to make herself appear more popular (obviously the facebook friends think she is) or to create an imaginary life that she wishes she has. By using photos of others she's likely to get caught at some stage. Or it could be that this imaginary friend is actually a friend of person that she has known that she wants to be friends with.
