How long doe it take police to track your IP address?
Ok, so me and my bro were messin around on facebook and we created this account, and totally harassed one of our friends at school. He didnt take it as a joke and his step mom called the cops, so we closed the FB account and we dont know if it is still available to the cops or not and it it is how long does it take to track the IP address?

Could be more than a month. They'd have to get a warrant for records from Facebook, then get a warrant for records from your ISP. Both will probably take at least two weeks apiece.

Of course, that's assuming the cops will even give a crap. If you were just flinging a few insults, then I seriously doubt anyone will give a damn. If you were making threats, then get ready to face the music.

It's easy tracking down to your IP address. It just involves binary and decimal conversions and after that it will reveal your area code and this will determine your location.
So if they took this seriously it would be in a day or two.

This site can be used to find the location of an IP address. http://www.ipgp.net

They can get to your ISP and ask them about you.
