Can you block someone on Facebook? Will they know?

I want to block someone that I accepted as a friend. Since the person is a relative, it may be awkward if she knew that I am choosing not to see her postings (political rants). Is there a way for her to know that I blocked her?

if u just delete her from ur friends, u wont be able to see her profile, and she wont be able to see urs. it wont tell her tht u deleted her, shell just have to notice on her own tht u arent on her list of friends anymore.

u can delete her which she wont know about unless she ever wants to message u specifically. also on ur main post home page when she posts something go to edit and click less about this person, and in the future you shouldnt recieve anything from them.
