How to perhaps find long lost relatives in South Africa.?
I do not have a lot to go on or a lot of funds. Also the info I may have is quite old. Are there perhaps government records or archives that I can access. It has become very important to me to find out if I have any living relatives. They were last heard off in George, Pacaltsdorp area.
Thank for any help.

To use the state archives you need to be here and do it yourself - getting an agency to do it would be very expensive.
But definitely start by browsing Facebook. You could also advertise in newspapers in the George area.

Facebook would be your first choice. Then there is SAreunited. Ask at the local schools if they have any old scholars from that specific age group. Perhaps one of them knows one of them . . . Maybe you could put an ad in gumtree.

Other popular search facilities include looking up the history of a family tree, legal documents, birth and death records, shipping, slaves, surnames, tribal and telephone numbers. The South African Department of Home Affairs keeps massive databases with information on the marital status of people that dates back to the early 1900’s. No matter what your reason is in finding out whether someone is single, married or divorced, you are entitled to browse and search through the public marriage records available to you.

You will have to try anything and everything, with the hope that someone reads it:

Some info in this link too: about criminal records etc

And here is a service that one has to pay for:

Good luck
