How long do facebook keep deactivated accounts?

I don't think there's a way to delete it forever. Facebook stays deactivated until he logs back in again. Stupid, I know. Just log in, change his paassword, and deactivate it again

It's there forever. However, people won't be able to see his profile when his account is deactivated.
