Tax returns are not "withheld" for anything. You FILE your tax return with the IRS. If you are entitled to any money when you file your return, that's called a REFUND.

Tax REFUNDS can be offset for unpaid child support in arrears. That applies to both federal and state refunds.

Yes if they catch it. My boyfriend owes bak child support so we will see if the irs or whatever catches tht. They probably will.

Why are there arrears? If there is a legitimate reason, such as unemployment, the obligor can still file for a reduction in them. Most Child Support obligors do not know there is free help from the state, by federal law, to obtain a modification. At the minimum, a motion should be filed to have any interest penalties set aside, which can double or triple the amount owed.
