Okay, what I mean is how can you curse and be perverted w/ your friends while you have relatives/parents seeing what you're doing? I'm 15. How do you guys do it? Do you just simply not add parents/relatives? I was thinking maybe I could make a new facebook, one where I just add family members. What do yall do?

You're 15... how "bad" do you need to be? I say just suck it up and tone down your language. You can be plenty cool without having to be a douche.

I wouldn't recommend the 2 facebook profiles thing. People will add the wrong "you" and it is difficult to maintain.

While I don't condone being perveted w/friends in an online medium because it can come back to haunt you when job searching I definitely understand that you're trying to walk the line of getting to use social media with your friends while still maintaining privacy from your relatives because your mom doesn't need to know everything. Everyone needs a little privacy, it's why we invented doors. lol

I use facebook "lists" to accomplish this. Basically when you add someone as a friend you can add them to different lists that you've created and then set it so that only certain lists can read my updates. It's a bit of a pain to setup, but really easy to maintain once it is and it gives you all that privacy without having to maintain two profiles.

To create a list go to Profile->friends then click the edit friends button in the upper right hand corner. The new screen will have a button that says create lists. Start off simple, create one list that says "friends" and one that says "family".(you can do more, like having a group for your band or whatever but it's easier to start simple) Then hover on the left side of the x next to a friends name and an "edit lists" button will appear. People can belong to both lists, so if you want them to be able to see both sets of status updates select both.

To change your settings so that every post will only show to one group by default(something you'll want if you're updating from your phone) go to Account -> Privacy Settings and select customize settings. For the "posts by me" select customize and then pick the group you'll be posting to most/the one you'll want to post to from your phone because phones won't let you edit on a post by post basis. You can change the rest of the settings to whatever you like.

To change settings for an individual post that you do want dear old mum to read go to post something on your profile. Next to the share button is a little lock, click on it, select customize. This will allow you to change the settings for ONLY that post. Your next post will follow the settings in my account and previous posts will not change. Once you have posted something you cannot change the privacy settings though, so be careful.

If you add someone the part where it says "except" it means that even if the person is in the group that is allowed to see it they will not be able to. So if you have a cousin in both groups and you say friends except for family(or if you type in your cousins name) your cousin won't see the post, despite his/her group settings.

After you have it setup when you accept/send fb requests you'll get the option of adding the new friend to whichever lists you like, so you don't have to go through the edit friends thing every time you add someone.

Sorry, I know that's a lot. Let me know if any of it didn't make sense.
