Should I sign up for twitter?
Everytime I surf the net I find stuff about Twitter. So I thought it was maybe time to join the the twitter people. But first a few questions.

What is twitter?
How does it work?
Should I make an account and do what ever you are supposed to do on twitter?

(Don't say it's something like facebook cause I don't know what facebook is either)

Twitter is another form of social media. What you do on twitter is you follow certain people and when they want to share something about their lives or what they are doing you will get a update on your twitter about them.

You can set up privacy settings where you can block everyone that is not on your list of followers from following you. This is highly recommended. If you are working and talk about your job you may be fired from comments made from your twitter if they can connect that it is you. (this is a small bit of advice, maybe it's best to not say anything mean to people Smile )

It works by many methods, you can txt to twitter and it will post on your page, you can use other applications such as http://www.atebits.com/tweetie-iphone/ .

It depends if you like to have information about certain people or what they do or what they are in supporative about talk about nonsense most of the time. Sometimes there are contests where if you RT (re-tweet) something you can win prizes.

Don't be pressured into it!
IT'S ADDICTING. Big Grin

Twitter is a website where you post statuses from your own account. These status/messages could be about anything - it's basically a quick way to sort of blog. Let everyone know what you're doing, or post a link to something you've found, post pictures through TwitPic, etc.

You can 'follow' other users on Twitter, like family friends or celebrities, and their status posts will appear on your homepage.

You can communicate with others through Twitter by doing the @ sign followed by the person's username, and whatever you type and post they will receive in their feed. To see if anyone's replied to you, there's a tab in the sidebar of your homepage that will say "@[your username]". To have more private conversations on Twitter, you can Direct Message someone (also a tab on the sidebar.)

Make an account to keep up with news, events, or just to see what famous people are up to. If you know of friends or relatives who use Twitter, it's a great way to talk to them also.
