I became a member in http://www.twitter.com and I have no Idea what I can do there but it asks me to "Tweet" the meaning of which I have no Idea about.Will any body help me please.Thanks in advance.

It's the social network equivalent to a facebook status update.
So basically you can write anything there: What you're doing, thinking, etc. etc. etc. But keep in mind that the limit is 140 characters!

A tweet is comparable to a status update on Facebook. The only difference is that a tweet can only have 140 characters. You use tweets on twitter
