How can I find my birth parents online for free?
I was adopted as a baby and I at least want to know what they look like.. They aren't on Facebook as far as I know. I don't know my birth mother's last name but I know how old they are. I don't know where they live or if they've remarried but I know they were divorced.. Help?

You'll need some more information first to be able to realistically search.

Ask your adoptive parents if they have any more information to share about your biological parents. (Realize that they may find this threatening, fearing that you'll quit loving them, so be gentle in how you ask, letting them know that you still need them as you try to figure out more about your own history.)

If you are over 18, try contacting the agency that was used in the adoption. They may be able to give you some more information.

Try contacting the government agency that issued your birth certificate and ask if you can get a copy of the original one (with your biological parents' information on it).

Search for websites for adult adoptees, where you can ask more, but more information will help the process a lot.

Can you go thru the agency that handled the adoption? Some agencies have become very helpful once the adopted child reaches 18. I have heard of cases where the adopted child actually leaves a consent that if the biological parents check into the matter later, they'll be given accurate information
Keeping in mind that a consent can also be left stating that one of the parties does not want to be contacted

It wasn't always so. Sealed meant sealed

In my state, I thought I might just be able to look at the court records-or some such a thing. Only to find out that I can't even contact the government agency without contacting an attorney and having him ask for the file to be opened.

do you have your birth certificate? It will show your mothers last name also if you don't go to your county clerks office just look up on google: *your sate/ province* + vital records.

Its your right to want to know who your biological parents are and to try and contact them if they want nothing to do with you then let bigons be bigons but perhaps leave them with some way to contact you in case they change their mind. Ask your mom and dad if they can tell you the adoption agency or even the adoption papers cause people need to sign papers unless they dropped you at a firehall or something which i doubt since you know their names and ages. If your adopted parents won't tell you I'd try looking around in files at your house boxes, in their room attic anywhere you think they could be. Then what you could do is look in the phone book for the names you've come up with usually in the phone book they have addressees beside the name. or you could search their names on google.

GOOD LUCK on your journey and don't forget it's your right to know and try.
