What Do you Think About Parents Creating Online Pages (Facebook) For Babies and Little Kids?
I've known a few people who made their newborn a facebook account.

Do you see a point in this?

Some say it's good for relatives wo don't live locally to see the baby and keep in touch with the family while others don't like the idea of putting a kid on the internet.

i personally thinks its ridiculous and irresponsible.the internet is NOT safe and NO ONE should be putting pictures of their children onto ANY kind of sites as you do not know who is looking at them!

there are some sickos out there!

if their families are so far away why can't they just email photos directly to them, that at least reduces the risk that someone else is going to see them!

That's a terrible thing to do. You're opening the door for pedophiles.

I don't think it's a big deal.

If I had a facebook profile for my child (I don't because I don't have anyone who needs to keep up on my child who isn't local), I would only allow people I know to see the profile. If I know any pedophiles, the pictures of my child online are the least of her problems.

Assuming this is some sort of blog people could find and access without my permission, I still don't see a problem with it. Yes, a pedophile could find a picture of my child and jack off over it. But a pedophile could take a picture of her in the park with his camera phone without my knowledge and do the same thing. Absent making your kid walk around with scarves over their heads like Michael Jackson's kids, you can't stop people from looking at your kids, taking their picture and thinking bad thoughts about them.

So long as they don't come after your kid and you don't find out about it, you're not harmed by someone getting off on a picture of your kid. Sure it's repellent, but if it's done in the privacy of some pedo's mother's basement, it doesn't directly impact you. The profile of a person who fantasizes over a child's picture is not the same as the profile of a person who snatches a child. They're two totally different mindsets.

I do find it interesting that people worry about pictures of their kids being on the internet, but you don't find nearly so many people worried about the kids in the weekly Babies R Us ad.
