You said a cell phone in the title. Not an underpowered computer like you mentioned in the details..

I'm 13 and I have an iPhone, their great!!!! You should excessively use the house phone, but not too much that it sends the bill up.

Tell your parents you will pay a fraction of it.

Give up pocket money for a few months.

Get a cheaper phone like the nokia lumia and buy an iPod or iPad instead.

Leave the computer on unattended with a deal for iPhones on it for our parents to find when they go to it.

Get a great grade at school.

Get a positive phone call home or a lot of merits.

Talk about useful apps like calendars, stuff they would think is handy.

if your parents can't afford to buy you an iphone, they just can't. why do u have to convince them to.. in the end, it's just a phone.. don't try to play with their feelings to convince them that's a very bad thing to do really.. just accept the phone u have or buy a cheaper phone than the iphone..

Set your sights lower to an iPhone 3GS instead.... only £315 to buy outright on Vodafone pay as you go from their store, instead of £499 for the basic 16gig 4S.

Educational value......
You can carry LOADS of books around with you via the "Amazon Kindle" + "Apple iBOOKS" apps... so many you'd need a forklift truck + Wooden pallet to carry them around if they were regular hardback / softback versions of the books.

Lots of educational apps to learn stuff, such as: "Distant Suns" + "Stellarium" + "Moon Map" (Astronomy)........ "24/7 French", "24/7 Italian", "Human Japanese", "Kotoba Japanese Dictionary" + "Google Translate" (language apps).... "Chambers Dictionary", "Chambers Thesaurus" + "Oxford A-Z of Grammar & Punctuation".

If they always worry where you are, then fear not... the iPhone has a built-in GPS, so you can tell them exactly where you are (though it's easier with the "AA Road Atlas" app than it is with with Google Maps one that comes in iOS)..... the GPS also comes in useful if you lose your phone or it gets stolen, just use the "Find my iPhone" app... and your Parents / Relatives / Friends who also have iOS Devices can find you via the "Find my Friends" app.
http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/find-my.html

The phone can of course be used as one of the world's best media players for MP3 tunes + video clips.

You can stay in touch with Friends & Relatives for less via "iMessage", "Facebook" & "Skype" over WiFi (and thus cutting down on the costs of Phone calls & text messages from Home or places where there is WiFi access).

You can use it as a Handheld games console...... with lots of free games, and most others rarely costing more than £2.99 (instead of 30 quid or so for a Nintendo DS / Sony PSP / SONY PS Vita game).

The phone's built-in spellchecker makes sure you use proper english instead of "txt talk", so you don't get into the habit of wrtng thngs l8k ths when sending messages to ppl.

You can create & edit Word Documents & Excel spreadsheets via the "Office²" app from Bytesquared. http://www.bytesquared.com/products/office/iphone (useful for doing schoolwork on the fly)....... which you can also to open PDF Files for things like Bus timetables you've downloaded off Bus company websites, or of course instructions for things

You can also store documents & pictures via either Apple's "iCLOUD" service, or the Microsoft/MSN/HotMail "Skydrive" (just downloaded the app for Skydrive earlier, and it's damn good).

You have two problems here. One, is you want an iphone and the other is your parents believe it's expensive. the answer to both of those problems is getting a refurbished/used iphone 4 or older. You won't find a 4s within their price range if they think it is too expensive.

As much as you may want an iPhone 4s, you have to put yourself into your parents shoes. If they say it is too expensive they may not have the money for it. How would you feel if one of your friends attempted to manipulate you into purchasing something for them that you know you can either not afford, or barely afford.

Look into refurbished or used iPhone 4, 3gs, 3g and see what options you may have. The iPhone 4 is almost exactly like the 4s, just minus Siri and a slight hardware upgrade. And trust me, the Siri app isn't that great, my friends who have 4s's rarely use it and consider it annoying.
