Much like The Rock whenever The Rock makes an appearance, he will come back the same persona/character he was when he left and then react to whatever the fans do. If they boo he'll be a heel and try to make them hate him. If they cheer he'll be a face and try to entertain them so they'll keep cheering.

Jericho is giving the fans the opportunity to decide his fate, heel or face.
