Depends on where you are.

Go volunteer: You do good, you feel good about it, and it looks good on your college application resume.

--at a local animal shelter. They have training programs and then you can volunteer around your own schedule. Not all of it is animal care, they also have office work, stuffing envelopes and printing up flyers, even posting on facebook and designing brochures, photoediting, and other things that require computer skills you may already have.
--at a summer kids care program. They need jr leaders. Sometimes they get paid.
--Babysit.
--Dogsit.
--Offer to do yardwork, dog care, or car washing for senior citizens in your neighborhood.
--Take lessons in something, sewing, cooking, music, dance, voice, kickboxing, skeet shooting, whatever.
--Offer to cook dinner for the family. Learn how hard it is to plan, shop, and cook to get everything to the table at one time.
--Research your family tree. Write it up to give it to one of your relatives (grandparents, parents) for an anniversary or other special occasion.

But first, from a mum, "Clean up your room!" Smile
