How do I go abouts finding a man that I dont know?

I am looking for my father who I have never met, all I know is his name and where I think he is located. How do I go abouts finding him without having to get a P.I. because I don't have that kind of money? Anyone have any suggestions?

ask your mom. she should have his info. unless they split on bad terms and you dont want her to know you're trying to contact him. if so...find out the reason behind your mom and him splitting. i'd try and find him thru facebook, myspace, family tree, my life, etc. if none of those help...see if your mom is connected to his parents, siblings, someone he was closed to. chances are, they might still be in touch.
