Right when I turned 12 and went into middle school, myspace got HUGE! And my mom wouldn't let me have a myspace because she saw too many stories about girls getting raped and stuff from myspace. So I told her that she could sit down and read what I typed and make sure that my profile was private. And she then made one so she could keep tabs on what I was doing on there. And that seemed to work(:

If all else fails, tell them it will make you a misfit in school and ruin your social development.

Tell your mom that facebook is vital for socialisation nowadays. Facebook will build relationships and make you a more sociable, cheerful person.
Also tell your mom that your sister's hiding something which is why she doesn't want you to join.

Well, you should sit them down and kindly explain to them that you are grown up now and would like to socialize with friends and family online instead of having to raise the phone bill. Talk about the importance of your decision and maybe go over a few rules. Be responsible and do not over react if the answer is no. Just be nice and maybe try to earn the privilege of having a Facebook. I hope my advice does you good. Good luck.
