Why does it seem like there is so much focus on sex and physical appearance in modern society?

It just seems like the media and a lot of TV shows and movies focus on sex and physical appearance a lot.

I think that modern society has become more 'visual' minded. Males have always tended to be more 'visual' than women, in terms of choosing a mate or a sex partner. With the advent of the internet and cable TV and those sorts of things, I've noticed that women as well (in general) are now more aware of 'looks'.

It's no longer an age of women reading erotica or men 'reading' Playboy magazine. It's all on video tape now and on the web. One doesn't have to imagine it anymore - it's RIGHT THERE in real time - right before your eyes.

I happen to be male. I enjoy looking at the female body. Gymnasts, ice skaters, porn stars, whatever. And women are starting to be more 'visual' as well. It's just THERE. Some women are starting to REALLY get obsessed with their looks. I know a young beautiful woman as merely a friend. She's ALREADY had TWO boob jobs and she's not even 35 years old ! In a way, she's ruined her body (scars). She was perfect before. Proportionate. Natural. Now she's fake. Really. (I would never tell her so to her face - it's HER life and I'm not judging her, though it may sound like I am.) She's obsessed with herself. Then there's these other couples I know. They post (words only) their ENTIRE sex lives on facebook. Every day they talk about it. I'm "OK, that's TMI, Too . . .Much . . .Information !" haha
Again, without being judgmental, I notice how people are in the sex and ego chakras more and more. And that's fine :-) But there's more to life than sex, looks, and 'me, me, me', ya know? At least from my point of view . . .

AND, the people who are in the sex and ego chakras DO happen to be the ones who never find a true love. Always arguing, cheating on each other, having babies by different fathers who 'run away' as soon as they learn that they have gotten the woman pregnant. (I happen to be friends with one woman who is completely and blissfully unaware that her 'boyfriend' is cheating on her at EVERY opportunity. He loves it. He even talks about it (obliquely) on facebook haha. She doesn't see it. She thinks he 'loves' her. Yeah right. For now. As a 'booty call'. He doesn't love her. It's a game for him.) That's just part of it. And that's fine. That's how they are CHOOSING to live their lives. "Oh, you're fat now. Bye. Ima gonna go find me another good-looking chick." Very 'disposable' attitude. No commitment. No higher-consciousness level 'heart-love'.
