Facebook is asking me for my cell phone number and won't let me log on?

I made my Facebook account yesterday, and now Facebook is asking me for my cell phone number and won't let me log on until I do. Has this happened to anyone else yet? And is there a way I can log back on without giving out my cell phone number?

If your don't want to give your number just give other cell phone number, either from your mother or siblings. Facebook is asking for your cell phone number because it where they'll send the confirmation code of your email. So don't you worry about them asking your number.
