My sister has a signed lease/contract for her apartment and her roommates have put an advertisement up on Facebook for her room because they want her to move out. Is it legal for them to advertise her room when she has a legal binding contract and has not yet signed anything stating that she will move?

If her name is on the lease, she has every legal right to be there.

Yes it is legal to advertise BUT that in no way means she had to move out, those that posted the add will just look foolish when people realize the room is not available.

Yes, it is legal for them to advertise anything they want to advertise.
Contracting with another roommate before severing the contract with your sister is another matter entirely. However, I fail to see why your sister would want to live there if they have made it clear they don't want her there. - Stuart |

No, it's not. If it's her name on the contract then that contract binds the area signed on to her. I'm not quite sure if it's a crime for them to put the room on the market, but it certainly wouldn't hold up in a court of law unless their names are also on the contract.

If she's a leaser, she has 100% of a legal right. Her roommate can't do anything without her say-so.

It's generally not illegal to advertise the room. It is illegal, however, to kick your sister out in violation of the lease agreement and/or state law. So the illegal activity starts if they attempt to evict your sister outside of lease terms and the law.
