Cause they probably suppose that getting out of your house & taking a walk with your puppy is actually better than a website with no benefit at all.

Many reasons:
a. Privacy concerns. This is a big one. They are watching you.
b. I do not like ads beamed at me. They know my surfing habits. My surfing is no one's business except mine.
c. I want *real* friends. Not fakes. Most I do not know who they are.
d. Why do I want to tell the world what I am doing every minute of the day? This is insane.
e. No one should be interested whether my baby pooped this morning. It is that silly.
f. There really is no benefit being a member in face book except everybody was doing at one time.
g. There was this curiosity factor. I signed up for membership. Now I am out of it. Herd mentality.
h. It is all hype. This face book is doomed at some point, I bet.
i. I want to get out and exercise rather than sitting in front of the computer all the time.

Even before IPO hits the stock market, I see this thing is losing its importance and its value. I predict it will be relegated to the oblivion in short order. Same goes for all other social networks such as Google+, twitter etc. It is an "also ran". It is all a one-hit wonder. I can't imagine this thing being popular in 3 years down the road.

Now - Linkedin is a different story. There is a purpose. I can create professional circles. It is meaningful.
It is the only one that makes any sense. There is some benefit and for my career. I know the people I link with in this website.

I used to like facebook to keep up with old friends and family, however, now it has gotten so bloated with adds and ridiculous features that it now next to impossible to use, which will make it become obsolete. I find when I am on this site it hogs up my processor too. The old facebook was so much better.
