How do I start finding my family roots on paternal side?
I have found some 'relatives' people with same family name on facebook and now I want to organise how to go further in finding my/our family roots on paternal side. How do I start.

start by finding your father's name on your birth certificate (assuming you haven't already got it) from that together with your mother's name, you can order a copy of his marriage certificate which will give his place of marriage, address, occupation and father's name and occupation.

From that, aussuming it isn't a really common name you should be able to find HIS marriage certificate and father's name. Once you get the marriage certificates you can check for other births with the same surname and mother's maiden name.

Once you get back to 1911 you can view the census to find families or look on a site such as Ancestry to see if anyone else had done the work already.

Start with yourself, then your father, Grandfather and continue back one generation at a time learning as much as possible about each. Document where you find the information and take classes (most public libraries as well as Family History Centers offer free classes). Don't assume that anyone is related to you on a social network, because they have the same surname. You might also want to read sites like About Genealogy, it will give you a start.
If you want to use a computer to record your information, I would suggest Legacy or Roots Magic. Ancestry claim ownership of everything that is uploaded to their site. I personally like Familysearch.org. Heritage.com and a couple sites that are about English Genealogy, but there are many sites. I personally do not accept the research of others with out documentation of where the information is from.
