What are images associated with literacy?
I have to create a poster encouraging literacy. In addition to the image, I will be including a quote, slogan, and bookmarks.

books
glasses
Pencils
The Alphabet
classrooms/schools/colleges ect..
you should also think about drawing some famous writer. Edgar Allan Poe would be a good idea.

"pen is mightier than the sword" -- you could use this to create an image. eg. a notebook in front of a person(s) where s/he has been writing, & holding the pen aloft in the fist to indicate might. You could show the person(s) as being from a poor or rural background.

How about the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak through the might of Tweeting, Facebook, etc.? The literate masses made it possible !

Or the opportunity for a better life, white-collar jobs, etc. through literacy.

The self pride when an illiterate adult can Finally sign their name on a bank cheque or any official document instead of the usual thumb print. You can show the person moving away the stamp-pad with one hand, while with the other s/he has just signed their name on the document/cheque.

"If you teach a woman, you teach a nation" - or similar words - check the exact words of this quotation by Jawaharlal Nehru. So, you can show how a mother is learning herself on one side while on the other, she is teaching her young kid(s).

Here are a range of images that could help you create your own :

Hope these help?
All the very best :-)
