Every company has a Facebook, every food product has a Facebook

everyone has a Facebook, except me. So tell me,

Whats the appeal? It must be something that you can't do with email, instant messengers or a telephone.

I don't have one either but have seen my friends use it. It is fx king stupid. You give your personal infO away as an Alternative to calling people or texting them. The reason people like it is because it is as addictive as smoking which I am gladly not addicted to either. The reason is because it effectively wastes your time on telling every one stuff and posting on many people's walls

The idea is maintaining your connections on a higher level. Email and Phone you have the number, but their is no way to checkup on them without having to email them or call them. The Appeal of facebook is your always connected without having to contact them directly.

The Idea is Information is power [Even though the Members of Facebook aren't really aware of that concept or more likely never heard of the Quote] I personally believe the meaning of life is to learn as much as possible before you die. You hunger for information [not necessarily knowledge which explains why girls love gossiping, and guys know insanely to much about various sports players]

So yes, Information Network, more then a social network.
Either way I am a fan of Google + Tongue

On the contrary, Facebook is very useful. It helps people socialize with their friends and family who may not live close by. Because of Facebook, most high school students (those who have an account) won't lose touch with most of their high school friends after they've graduated, which is really nice. It helps them maintain friendships if they, for example, decide to attend an out of state university or college. You can share photos more easily and view them at any time, which is better than an album which will seldom be looked at, collecting dust in someone's basement.
I do admit, when it's used excessively it's a colossal waste of time (I'm guilty of this) but if used moderately, it's a brilliant social tool.
