Is there a protocol to leaving picture comments on Facebook?

I simply posted on a guy's wall that he had a beautiful baby.

This upset his child's mother. She said that the comment should have been left to the both of them because it wasn't just his baby,it was both of theirs. The entire exchange with her left me puzzled.

She also lead to thinking that I "wanted" the guy.

Maybe there is something that I"m missing

u should get a friend to tell her that SHE has a beautiful baby and see if she says thanks and corrects him/her or not
