how do they know who your closest friends are? its always 80% accurate. is it random or.. ?

It's based on who you talk to the most.
Like photo comments, wall mssgs, inbox mssgs, etc.

hi i just figured this out yesterday when you are signed in to face-book make sure you are on your profile page on the homepage of face-book. there is a pencil like for editing friends, and you can have top 6,9,12 and you type the names that you want there. like i said i just figured that out...hope that helps you if not email me back and i will explain again.
