Ok well I just joined twitter about a hr or so ago.I know most 15 year olds have 1 by now,but whatever lol.How do I use it?I know you can only use 140 characters, and you update what you are doing, but I have seen people using # signs and stuff. Why do they do that, and am I supposed 2?Thanks!
Yes I realize it is in the wrong category, but when I tried to change it my computer froze up,so deal with it.Gosh it isn't the end of the freakin world because it is in the wrong category.Gee's.

that is a tag. You can mention people in your tweet also, by typing in the @ button. The hashtag (#) is for when you say stuff like lol or fail. Ex: I just tripped on my own feet... #fail. Kind of like that.... that is a format of a tweet. It'll get easier in time I go on twitter a lot and it takes getting used too.

Twitter is a way of connecting with other people who share your interests or who might be interested in what you have to say.

# Sings:
The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages.

Using hashtags (#):
1) If Tweet with a hashtag on a public account, anyone who does a search for that hashtag may find your Tweet.
2) Don't #spam #with #hashtags. Don't over-tag a single Tweet. (Best practices recommend using no more than 3 hashtags per Tweet.)
3) Use hashtags only on Tweets relevant to the topic.

Hashtags: helping you find interesting Tweets
1) People use the hashtag symbol # before relevant keywords in their Tweet to categorize those Tweets to show more easily in Twitter Search.
2) Clicking on a hashtagged word in any message shows you all other Tweets in that category.
3) Hashtags can occur anywhere in the Tweet.
4) Hashtagged words that become very popular are often Trending Topics.

Example: Below, @VegNews added the hashtag before the word "vegan" in their message. The word is now a link to search results for all Tweets containing "#vegan" in the message.
