The link wont be hi-lighted/activated and it will show up on the sibling list in black instead of blue

go to your profile and it will tell you if they have accepted if it dose not say any thing it means the have rejected

After you send that person a friend request it will say "Awaiting friend request" when you go to their profile. If it no longer says "Awaiting friend request" then they have denied you...
