Is it okay for my boyfriend to flirt behind my back?

His messages to other girls were things like "I'm in need of you in my life" and talking about meeting up with other women for lunches and dinners when we have agreed to not do that. We've been together for over a year and I'm not sure how to go about this situation. Suggestions?
