How do you use twitter ?

What are all the # & @ about ? with the random words ? i don't get it how do we talk to people ? and does everyone see our conversation ? is it something about privacy or is there no privacy ?

If you post something, and lets say it has a baby name in it,
It will appear in certain baby name websites that have a twitter widget on the page.
You can change your privacy settings though to avoid appearing in websites like this.

@ = At (On twitter,It will highlight the name after @ as a link)
